Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound
Parishioners who participate in this ministry (EMHCs) receive training to make pastoral visits and bring the Sacrament of Holy Communion to members of our parish family who are temporarily or permanently homebound or in a senior adult care facility. Each minister is asked to visit once a week. Hospitalized SFX parishioners will be visited by Sr. Sara Burress, O.S.B. and/or a priest if that person or family member notifies the office.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is administered upon request in the case of serious illness or surgery. During Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter, our priests anoint our parishioners who are homebound and in nursing homes. Parishioners can also receive the sacrament following weekend mass.
Monthly Memorial Mass
Saint Francis Xavier offers a Memorial Mass on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Chapel. Anyone can attend these monthly Masses to remember deceased loved ones.
Grief Support Groups
An 8-week Grief Support Group program is offered once or twice a year.
Funeral Sacristans
Funeral sacristans are parishioners trained to serve specifically at Funeral Masses.
Funeral Coordinators
Funeral Coordinators are parishioners trained to assist Sister Sara with funerals and to "sub" for her when she is away.
Funeral Meal Teams
Presently our parish has seven teams of parishioners who offer comfort in the name of our parish family by preparing food and serving meals to our bereaved families following funeral liturgies. These funeral lunches are served in the Parish Hall or Joseph Room (if available) following the funeral.
