RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The RCIA is a program designed to provide a study of Catholic beliefs and practices for those interested in joining the Catholic Church. Classes are held each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Classes begin in September and meet every week until Easter when participants are received into the Church. Those who have not been baptized (catechumens) are then baptized; those who have previously been baptized (candidates) are confirmed and receive First Eucharist.

"The second Vatican Council restored for the Latin Church 'the catechumenate for adults, comprising several distinct steps.' ...Today in all the rites, Latin and Eastern, the Christian initiation of adults begins with their entry into the catechumenate and reaches its culmination in a single celebration of the three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist."
