Marina Battles is the Hispanic PSR Coordinator. She is a senior at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa majoring in Spanish and Early Childhood Education. Marina has been a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish for over twenty years, attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, and graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School. Over the past few years she has had the privilege of working with Sr. Mary Johanna, Fr. Bob Sullivan, Fr. John McDonald, and Brenda Bullock in the Hispanic Ministry. She loves teaching the children in the Parish School of Religion. She is honored to work for St. Francis Xavier Church, the families and the children of our parish faith community. She and the catechists have many fun and exciting classes and events planned to teach the children about our Catholic faith. + Shaun Byrne is the SFX Children's Minister. She grew up in Chattanooga, TN, obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, and has her Masters in Education from Samford University. Shaun is married to a wonderful man named Kelly, and they have both been blessed with three children - Robert, Will, and Lucy. + Daniel McCormick is the Director of Religious Education at SFX and the 8th grade Latin teacher at SFX school. He is married to a wonderful woman named Ashley, and two of them were recently blessed with a daughter, Beatrice. Daniel obtained his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Alabalam, and previously worked as the middle-school language teacher at St. Rose Academy. In addition to being a teacher, Daniel is also a student. At the end of this school year, he will graduate with a Masters in Theological Studies from Spring Hill College. If ever you wish to talk about the literature, the scriptures, or the Church and you lack a conversation partner, just look for Daniel - he will be eager to join you. + Julie McLean is the Confirmation program director at SFX. + Alicia Sampedro is the Youth Director at SFX for both High School and Middle School Youth Groups. She was born and raised a country girl in Iowa and obtained her undergraduate degree at Iowa State University. She is blessed with a wonderful husband, Benjamin, who works alongside her whenever he is free. Alicia loves working with the teens and especially getting to know them in small group settings. Starting in grade school, Alicia had always dreamed of working in ministry, and as she grew older, she discovered her love for working with youth and her desire to lead them closer to Christ. + |
