Pastoral Care

This important ministry undertakes one of the corporal works of mercy, namely to visit the sick. Jesus told us that what is done for the least of His children, is done for Him (Matt 25:40). Parishioners who participate in this ministry receive training to make pastoral visits and bring Holy Communion to members of our community who are homebound, in hospitals, or other health care facilities. Through their compassionate presence and prayer, they become signs of the loving care of our parish community. Each lay minister is usually asked to make a visit once a week or at least once or twice a month.

Parishioners are asked to call St. Francis Xavier Parish Office to report an illness. A priest will administer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during special liturgies twice a year or upon request, i.e. before major surgery or when one becomes critically ill.
