Youth Ministry - Middle School & High School

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Saint Francis Xavier Youth Ministry is to create an environment which leads our youth into a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ and His Church. Our aim is to create and foster a community of young people who are open and welcoming to all so that we might build up the body of Christ and become active witnesses of His love within our local neighborhoods and world. Our mission is accomplished primarily through the celebration of the Eucharist, study and discussion of the teachings of Christ and His Church, and through the participation in local service projects.

Dear Youth Ministry Families,

We’re so happy to have our youth group weekly meetings starting again!  In order to get to know your child a little more, we're asking all parents to please complete a short questionnaire for their child if they have not already done so. It can be found here. We will be having some extracurricular activities going along with the meetings. Please be praying about what activities your student would like to attend and what you would like to chaperone:

  • High School Life Teen Camp: Camp Hidden Lake
    • Weeks we’re applying to go: July 16-21, July 23-28, July 30-August 4
    • Total Cost: $600 ($100 deposit and registration paperwork deadline is September 18 by 8:00 p.m.)
    • Current grades: 8-12
    • The link to register as a student can be found here. The link to register as an adult can be found here; chaperones are not responsible for paying to attend.
    • Scholarships are available- please visit here for a form. Scholarship forms are due by 8:00 p.m. by September 18.

    • Current grades: 5-7
    • The link to register as a student can be found here. The link to register as an adult can be found here; chaperones are not responsible for paying to attend.
    • Scholarships are available- please visit here for a form. Scholarship forms are due by 8:00 p.m. by September 18.
  • March for Life in Washington D.C.
    • To register, please fill out the form here by 8:00 p.m. on October 1. A $100 non-refundable deposit is also required at that time.
    • We will leave the afternoon of January 17 and return early on Sunday, January 21
    • Total Cost: $300, plus spending money and meals

Here, on the first two pages only, you will find the CH-1 waiver, which allows for students to be able to travel on diocesan trips without their parents. We need this form as soon as possible and BEFORE your child travels on an extracurricular activity. You are welcome to give specific permission for each trip or write just a blanket “all youth activities” on the form. If you would like to fill out the form in Spanish, you're welcome to use pages 3-4. On this same link, you will also find information about being a chaperone for youth ministry activities. We ask that if you, as an adult, are volunteering your time and/or vehicle that you please fill out pages 9-10.

We are also asking everyone to please RSVP on the Google Docs so that we can better keep track of things. It is in everyone’s best interest to make sure all the forms are filled out properly and on time to make sure that no one is accidentally left off the list. For a student to be properly registered, all paperwork and deposits must be turned in before the deadline. We will have meetings (dates: TBA) to go over these special activities and our agendas for these events.

As your child's primary catechist, we ask that you get involved in your student's spiritual life. The development of one's faith cannot happen by simply taking your child to Mass or dropping them off at youth ministry events (though we are glad that you do so!). Just as much as your child has a place with us, so do you. If your child sees you taking our beautiful Catholic faith seriously, he or she is more likely to do so. With that being said, we invite you to become involved in our youth ministry program. Before having contact with our wonderful students, all adults must go through our youth protection training. You are welcome to attend live classes offered by the diocese; the schedule can be found here. You are also welcome to complete an online training, which will cost you $9.50. If you would prefer to do your training online, please visit this website. Both sets of training are good for three years before you must update.

On a final note, we’re so thankful to have your student with us. Our youth have a special role in bringing the light of the world to the next generation. We would also like to take the opportunity to invite you to become involved with our youth ministry. Thank you for your devotion to our Lord, and may He continue to bless you and your family. You are all in my prayers.

In Christ,
