RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is eager to welcome anyone who might be interested in learning more about the Catholic Church.  The R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process designed to provide a study of the Catholic beliefs and practices for those wishing to become members. Sessions begin in September and usually meet weekly until the week after Easter. Participants who choose may be received into the Church at the Easter Vigil.

The second Vatican Council restored for the Latin Church 'the catechumenate for adults, comprising several distinct steps.'  ...Today in all the rites, Latin and Eastern, the Christian initiation of adults begins with their entry into the catechumenate and reaches its culmination in a single celebration of the three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist."
Catechism of the Catholic Church, taken from paragraphs 1232-1233
